Aromatherapy for sunburn

Everyone enjoys going to the beach with the kids.  Sensible precautions such as staying out of the sun between 11-3 and covering up make sense and can avoid sunburn.
sunburn is a burn to living tissue, such as skin, which is produced by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, commonly from the sun's rays. Usual mild symptoms in humans and other animals include red or reddish skin that is hot to the touch. Exposure of the skin to lesser amounts of UV radiation will often produce a suntan.
Sunscreen is widely agreed to prevent sunburn.  Clothing, including hats, is considered the preferred skin protection method. Moderate sun tanning without burning can also prevent subsequent sunburn, as it increases the amount of melanin, a skin photoprotectant pigment that is the skin's natural defense against overexposure.  The only cure for sunburn is slow healing, although some skin gels can help with the symptoms.
Normally aromatherapy oils and lotions are chosen for their ability to penetrate the skin.  It is important that the sunscreen does not penetrate the skin or the protective effect of the sunscreen is lost.
Aloe vera blended with lavender taken at bedtime will help moisturise the skin.
